Here's a link to the first installment of my fairy tale relevance pieces. Part of I Must Be Hallucinating and I See Fairies.
http://imustbehallucinating.com/wordpress/relevance-of-the-little-mermaid-by-hans-christian-andersen/ This is the one of many mystery books by Elliott Roosevelt. These books focus on murder mysteries that happen in the White House and Eleanor Roosevelt works with police and secret service to solve. In this murder mystery, a criminal from Cleveland, Ohio, is found murdered in the Red Room during dinner hosted by Franklin Roosevelt for members of the Supreme Court. A man named Shondor Jack. Many might think good riddance to this criminal, but a murder is a murder. And worse it happened in the White House making it a federal case. Eleanor is asked by a member of the secret service and the D.C police for her help in solving this case. Will you be able to guess the murder in this mystery. I was a bit shocked to see who the murderer or murderers are/were. A historical fiction novel and a murder mystery. I might have enjoyed this book better if the characters were not historical figures. It made it seem odd that a First Lady was investigating murders that happened in the White House. Some parts of the book were a bit slow, but I had to know who committed the crime(s). As slow as the book seemed to be in parts make me not want to read the others in the series. One not need read all the books in the series to understand the book. That’s making reading the book easier. I was turned off by the idea of the First Lady of the United States working to solve the crimes, though. Most would think such a figure would be the target of such a crime as a murder. Not a horrible book, but not one that I loved or would recommend to others. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and enjoyed all the turkey. Be careful if your shopping on Black Friday. Speaking of Black Friday, go to www.youravon.com/ccfrawley22 and check out the specials. You can have it delivered directly to you and pay with a credit card. Aside from all the holiday and shopping madness I wanted to update my viewers. I have two book reviews being posted by the end of the week. I have some literary work on Andersen's fairy tales coming up. To learn more see futurelearn.com. Keep chekcing back for weekly updates, reviews, posts and more. Once again everyone, I apologize that there hasn't been regular new material. The holidays are just around the corner. I've been distracted with Christmas gift shopping, and volunteer events. I've been distracted in general by life once again. Some poetry currently in the works. The screenplay, unfortunately, is on hold. The editing process is taking quite some time while I work figure out a way to get the right funding and best location for a shoot.
Been thinking about going back to school for a degree in business management. Not sure if that's going to happen or not. A new book review should be coming soon as well. No new movies. But I do need to get to work on IMBH. You can check out some of my other work there at imustbehallucinating.com. I'm on the blog page under CeCe. I have been working on a literary study of Hans Christian Andersen and his work. There will be more the come on that study after I finish the final week next week. It has been an interesting look at the development of his work and his fairy tales. More to come as I manage to get some new things figured on here, on Facebook, and at the IMBH site. Keep checking back for that latest. I will get better about posting something weekly, I promise! ~CeCe |
