Under the Never Sky Review Aria was born in an enclosed community. She wore a device that allowed her to move through Realms. This technology was based on brain synapses. All she had to was think of something and it would fraction around her. One day, she and a small group shut down the power to the device and moved into a damaged Pod. For this, she was thrown out of the Pod into the Real. Out in the Real she believes she will die without the health she had always known inside the Pod. She encounters, a Savage, Peregrine, who takes her on a journey to fix her Smarteye device and get her home while saving his tribe. Two people from two different worlds must work together to reach a goal. Get back to Bliss and save the people they love. Will Aria be too late to reach her mother? Will Peregrine be able to help his tribe. Can these to work together and put aside their hate? What will they learn about each other and about themselves on this journey? This book was very well written and the first in the trilogy. I could imagine the live the Aria missed. I could feel the loss of each character. Some things were shocking to find out with the characters. I look forward to the next book and finding out where the two characters will go next in their quest together. ~CeCe The Halfling’s Gem Review The adventure continues. When we left the friends were off in search of the halfing, Regis. The assassin, Artemis Entreri, has captured the little halfling and is taking him South to Pasha Pook, the owner the pendant Regis stole. This fellowship is greatly divided. CattieBrie is gathering an army to fight and reclaim Bruenor’s homeland in Mithral Hall. Wulfgar and Drizzt are on the quest to find Regis and put an end to Artemis Entreri. Many perils await the two on their way South. But halfway there, they are joined by CattieBrie and Bruenor to save the little halfling. The four friends travel together through the perilous South and the even more perilous city of Calimport. They even travel the dangerous Realm of Tetarus to save their friend. Will the four friends survive the dangers? Will the arrive in time to save Regis from torture and death? And what will become of the assassin? Only the end of the book can tell. I struggled to read this book. Since the friends were divided there was a lot going on and a lot of bouncing. The book was well written, though I could really picky with the editor. There were a several grammar errors the made it difficult to read toward the end. In comparison with Tolkein, I felt this was similar to The Two Towers. The fellowship is divided and everyone is following a different path only to be reunited and prepare for a final battle somewhere else. Overall though it was good book and I look forward to what comes next for Drizzt in the series. What adventure now lies ahead for the drow, who has finally accepted that no matter what others may think of the color of his skin, he is not the average drow elf. `CeCe |
