I just finished this amazing novel by author Astrid Arditi. I promised you all and the author a review. Come join Hope Diaz on a journey to Mount Olympus to compete in a series of quests for the gods. These quests are not just of strength, but also wit. All Hope wants to do is go back home to her mother. She could care less for the gods selfish and petty 'quests'. However, she has no choice but to compete if she wants to go home. Can she even compete against the other challengers who have been brought to Mount Olympus to compete for the right to be the next the Olympic hero/heroine? Fourteen challengers, two for each of the primary gods on Mount Olympus. Theses challengers must compete in quests based on the faced by past Olympian heroes. In the end there can only one who can claim the title. Does Hope stand a chance? She's faced with so much pressure to win. It's the only way she will make it back home to help her mother, or make it back at all. This book had me on the edge of my seat and I didn't want to stop reading it. I was upset each time I had to stop reading to go to sleep in order to go to work the next day. Arditi blends heartache, love and friendship into an epic adventure that will leave you captivated to the very end. CCNight Hey everyone! I told you I'd keep you posted on my work leading up to the virtual writing camp in April. I'm still working on the next character introduction, so that will come next week. In the meantime please enjoy a supplemental poem about the main character, Liviana, who you met last week.
Liviana’s Truth Raised in secret in a different land to protect from the Purists’ murderous hand Raised in Espela A mirror of her home, Athea She lived with her uncle and Elf culture She learns her parents are two different races Her destiny was declared to reunite the people of her birthplace What started as a journey to find security will now be a hero’s quest But can she pass the test? Stay tuned next week for an introduction to the man (elf) that raised Liviana. Next week I will introduce you to her uncle, Draven. Stay tuned for other sneak peeks as well. As I finish I may have a surprise for some who choose to accept. Until next time, CCNight In the last few weeks I have been making changes, not just to the site, but also in my everyday life. I've been thinking about the goals I had set for myself at the beginning of the year and how I may accomplish those goals. I had set to submit the concept of my play by the end of March. I am happy to say that I am ahead of schedule and that is has already been submitted. At this time I await further correspondence. I also had set a date to have a full manuscript ready for the my first novel in "The Espela Chronicles' to be ready by the end of July or the beginning of August. I am happy to say that I am ahead there as well. I look forward to sharing with all of you the character sketches in the next few weeks leading up to my virtual writing camp in April. In fact, below is Liviana's sketch. I do have some sad news as well. Just as Evan Stanley left The Dives at the beginning of the year, I have decided to leave Odyssey. It was been a wonderful time contributing as a content writer and editor, but I feel it is time to move on in this next chapter. I'm glad for all of the wonderful people I have met and worked with over my time there and I wish you all the best. Below is my final article with Odyssey. www.theodysseyonline.com/evan-stanley-combining-genres-industry ~CCNight
Here's this week's update: new things are happening now the school is finished! Before I get to those updates I'd like to share my final GPA. *Drum roll please* The final GPA: 3.094! The struggle has been real, the stress and the tears, and the endless nights have paid off. While I will not be walking in New Hampshire, I still feel accomplished. Now onto some news! I've been re vamping the plot sketch for a play. For those that remember Creatures, I've completed a full two act sketch that has been sent off. I'm awaiting feedback and the anticipation is killing me. Please keep fingers crossed that it doesn't get lost in cyberspace. In other news, I'm working on character sketches for the fantasy characters in something I'm calling The Espela Chronicles. A little refresher, this is the story a half Elf/ half human who must find her parents and reunite her world. She's on a hero's journey to unite the races. The first book I'm calling Return Home and she has much to learn about her past and her world in this first novel. Finally, here's the latest in the web content writing. This is a little bit of a revamp of one of my past book reviews. If you haven't read this book, I highly recommend it. www.theodysseyonline.com/kite-runner-realistic-other-cultures For those of you who have been following, thank-you so much. I have finally completed my Bachelor of Arts program in Creative Writing and English! I submitted the final assignments on Saturday and now I'm just waiting for final grades to post and for the university to send my official transcripts and diploma. Sadly, I have decided not to walk at the commencement ceremony as it would be too far to travel just to shake hands and have someone hand me the diploma. Now, let the real work begin in following my passion for writing. I will soon have a team of accountability partners to keep me in check while writing my novel. And as for the play, I'm almost ready to submit the sketches for review. I'm also seeking some new material for content writing. For now I'm staying with Odyssey, but may be looking to leave soon. For now, here is a little review of a movie about Shakespeare. www.theodysseyonline.com/was-it-shakespeare-or-the-nobility Until next week! CCNight |
