I feel like I've been pretty busy this week. This morning has been especially busy. I want to provide my readers with an insight into how I write. I have a setting for a story, or series of stories in mind. And I have a new character to introduce.
Insight into the writer: Sitting in the living room of a one bedroom apartment at the desk by the kitchen. Her favorite song is playing through her headphones. Inspiration strikes as she begins to type madly. A new character comes to life on the screen. She is the ruler of a new kingdom. Then her favorite tv shoe comes on. As she sits and watches, more images come to life as she continuew to type ruing the commercial breaks. by the end of show she has set the scene for her character’s entrance and her beginning rule. she sits in the library at a table near between the young adult section, science fiction and the music section. The screen remains blank. She tries to wrtie about her new character. What obstacle will she face in the story. The screen remains blank. She gets up for a minute and browses the titles of the young adult section, looking for inspiration. She returns to the table. Nothing. She picks up the laptop and moves into the young adult section away from the movement she sees from the table. Five minutes pass. Then ten. Nothing. It’s too quiet. No music, no tv screen with her favorite shows. Inspiration will not come. finally she leaves for the peace of her small apartment again. Possible story setting: Down on the Dairy: an ice cream parlor and convenience shop. place of work for main character. She works here full time usually at night. this is where she comes up with some of her ideas and stories. stacks of crates of milk in the cooler are often seven or eight high and taller than the main character when working with an older co-worker they were joking and enjoying each other’s company one night. Her co-worker was in the cooler stocking milk and had the door popped open. Because the crates were so high she couldn’t see the main character aroung the crates and was startled when asked to grab yogurt for the yogurt machine. They laughed then joked about the crates being so high and how the main character gets milk down to stock. They could just imagine this small figure trying to pull a crate of milk off the stack and falling backward with the crate on top of ther like a cartoon. Later, they were making shakes for customers and the main character had washed the ladles, but she placed a couple of them back in the wrong spots and they got to laughing again. New character: Liw Cowrl (pronounced LIv Covrl) : character in a story by our main character. age 136, parallel universe in which she is the leader of the population. wise and fair, ruling with dignity. a young ruler by this world’s standards, considered young by one half of her people, well aged by the other. She is born half elf-half man. Her father is a great king of men and her mother is a fari lady of the elven races. will become a great ruler of her people, but there will be great trials before she reaches that point. A curse is placed on her at birth, hardships she will endure before she reaches her time of reign. Those hardships though, will make her wise and give her good judgement. Her legacy is to unite the two races. Stay tuned for more development on Liw and maybe more on Down on the Dairy. ~CeCe Here's my first character sketch. Some of you may have seen her in the Alana comic posted earlier when I was taking a comic course through edX with Stan Lee. Here's her sketch that I created during that course. I have another character in mind right now and she may be playing a role in Alan story later. Alana Peacekeeper of Justice: powers: time travel and persuasion limitations: only travels to the Founding Fathers and the creation of the Constitution weakness: silver pendant of a broken circle ORIGIN STORY Alana, a descendant of the goddess, Harmonia, strives for justice in the American government. She seeks peaceful ways to attain justice for all. Upon birth she was given the gift of time travel by Zeus to learn the original intent of the Constitution for America. Her other ancestor, Eris, also gave her a gift, a silver pendant that strips her power, a gold chain with a broken circle pendant. Aly Dice PERSONALITY TRAITS soft spoken, knowledgeable about government and law OCCUPATION Chief Justice BACK STORY A graduate of Harvard Law, Aly worked as a lawyer before campaigning for Congress. Once elected in Congress, the President notices her distinct role as a peacekeeper on the Congress floor and her strive for the rights of constituents. He appoints her Secretary of Justice. ~CeCe It's been a little longer than a week since my last post. Let me catch everyone up.
Last week I posted my first article on the haunting at Fort Matanzas in St. Augustine, FL. In the article is an eyewitness account from his tour there. To view the article simply click the link below. http://imustbehallucinating.com/wordpress/fort-matanzas-haunting/ I've also begun some new free online courses. One of those courses involves writing fiction. I just finished week one. One of the writing prompts was to write two separate paragraphs. One paragraph involves one fact and three fictions facts and the other is vice versa. These might be a bit obvious, but it got the juices flowing and allowed me to write about things I mostly familiar with. Being a retail assistant manager can be quite difficult. Everyday I come into work and make coffee. If I’m not making coffee then I’m dipping icecream for customers in twenty degree weather. There is joy in the job as well. Each day I come in and things are done around the store. I don’t have to worry about employees being lazy and neglecting work. It is an ideal work environment and nothing seems to go wrong. My apartment is always clean. Even when I haven’t cleaned in a few days. The cleaning fairy stops in while I’m at work six days a week and keeps things looking nice. Dust is clear. The bathroom is always white. And there are never dirty dishes in my sink. There is always food to eat and clean clothes to wear. My apartment is truly ideal. Now I'm getting back to my writing journals. I've kept several over the years. From those journals I've got scenes and dialog that was never used. And some short stories that didn't see the light of day. I have characters that borrowed and built upon. I have other pieces that were collaborations and have been reworked several different times. Currently, I'm building a character sketch I hope to share in a few days. I'm excited to begin sharing this all of my viewers. And as always, please keep checking back. I have a couple more book reviews coming up in the next month. And hopefully a review of the live broadcast of Grease on Fox next week Jan. 31. I'm excited to Aaron Tveit as Danny Zucko. ~CeCe The members of the Tribulation Force are now faced with more trials as the end of days begins. This small core group seem to be the only people aware of what is happening. People are quickly becoming more aware though. The Witnesses preaching grows louder and more earnest. The time for the conversion of Jews is at hand as the signing of the ‘peace treaty’ with Israel draws near. Nicholas Carpathia’s mighty hand stretches even farther. He seizes even more power away from world leaders. It all seems to the unaware that his is reluctant to take this power and a pacifist in all things. To those with Christ and who are close to him, they know better. Buck and Rayford Steele face new challenges as Carpathia takes more away from the free world. The worst seems to be at hand. The Tribulation has finally been ushered in. With the end of the ‘peace’ comes the next Horseman of the Apocalypse. The Antichrist has been revealed, now the world will face the Red Horseman, commonly known as War. The workings of Carpathia are broadcast continuously on CNN. His charismatic personality captivates the world. Any resilience he faces is quickly quieted or somehow persuaded to follow his every whim. He has now taken control of U.N. and taken Air Force One and renamed both Global Community. It would seem that the world is agreed to work together as one in peace. But how long can this peace last? Rayford and Buck, try as they might cannot escape the reaches of Carpathia. When all the news outlets of the U.S are seized by Carpathia, Buck is forced to do press coverage and publish for the evil of the world. Rayford is offered a job as pilot of Air Force One and when that is seized by Carpathia, so is Rayford. What does this mean for the Tribulation Force? Bruce is called to travel and spread the great news of Christ’s Glorious Appearance to the world. Chloe remains in Chicago to research the Bible and study Revelation. The world is being turned upside down, and people are converting and beginning to resist the charm of Carpathia. The story continues in Nicholae. The breaking of all moral may be the beginning. How much longer can the Tribulation Force hold out against the Antichrist when war breaks out? ~CeCe The world of Menzoborranzan is a dangerous and treacherous world. It is a part of the Underdark. The world of the dark, drow elves. One family will work to improve its station. Deceit, treachery and bloodshed is the way of these folk. This is the birthplace of Drizzt Do’Urden. Born a male in world dominated by women, he will have to learn quickly to kill or be killed. A baby who should have been sacrificed to the Spider Queen of the drow people and then fate spared his life. His powers were well developed and his skill was almost unmatched. He grew quickly into a skilled dow warrior, top of his class. His equal was his mentor, Zaknafein. Zaknafein was the weapons master of House Do’Urden. He was stealthy and fast and unmatched in the land of Menzoborranzan. But Zaknafein had secrets. His ideals did not match up to the ideals of drow society. He did not seek chaos and bloodshed. He believed that somewhere there was harmony to be found. In his heart he wants to leave, but is bound to stay and serve the Matron of House Do’Urden. As Drizzt grows, he carries with him a naivety about the world of the drow. He frequently questions the way of the drow and the point of all the bloodshed. He does not agree that everyone is an enemy of his kin. But he also carries a pride in his skill. Knowing that he is unmatched by anyone except his mentor, Zaknafein, Drizzt takes his place as a warrior for his family. As he grows into adolescence, Drizzt is faced once again with the question of his life: to kill or be killed. Is there any other choice for Drizzt is this dark and treacherous world? Must he suffer the same fate as Zaknafein and kill and find joy in the killing? Will he join Zaknafein and together they will become an unbeatable duo? Or is there another option for Drizzt? In this novel, Salvatore goes back to begin the origin tale of popular character, Drizzt Do’Urden. Readers are familiar the Drizzt is a drow elf. On the surface, such a creature is often despised and hated for the dark magic and cruelty of the race. How is it then that Drizzt was accepted by a band of friends in the IceWind Dale? What brought Drizzt to the surface so far from his own kin? Homeland begins his tale. From birth, Drizzt is different. A homeland is simply where one is from, not necessarily where one calls home. This could not be more true than in the tale of Drizzt Do’Urden. Join him through adolescence and his battle for identity in this origin tale. ~CeCe I know I'm a week late, but here it is: Happy New Year!! May 2016 bring something to each of my viewers. This year will be exciting for me I hope. I'm late getting started, but I plan to write a page a day. Maybe I'll share the page with you all. Or I may only share one page a week. I have all sorts of personal growth projects to tackle this year. Starting next week is a Shakespeare study. I'll try to keep you posted on that challenge. And more reviews coming your way. There may even be some cool stories this year. In fact, here's one to begin the year off. This happened on Christmas Day at my parents. The last couple have been interesting, to say the least. Two years in a row, my sister has had the best reactions to gifts and no one has been able to get a camera rolling or even snap a picture because we're all laughing so hard. Though there are five years between my sister and I, we are both adults, in the legal sense. That being said this should be fun. Last year, my dad got us iPads for Christmas. Now my sister, before she even has the gift fully unwrapped is beginning to freak out. She was almost in tears and starting to hyperventilate. That was priceless, but doesn't even compare to this year. This year my dad found talking sock monkeys. In a way, it was almost like our own personal Nightmare Before Christmas. We open these monkeys. I'm sitting on the floor just in front of the couch, but facing sideways and my sister is behind me. I'm reading the back of the package to see what the monkey is supposed to do. I don't want to open it, because I have to take it home later. My sister is beside me and already has the box open and pulls the tab at the bottom of the monkey. Most toys don't come with batteries. She sits there holding it and says 'Batteries not included'. The monkey repeats what she says in a somewhat demonic voice. I turn and my sister looks stricken and holds the monkey at arms length in front of her. We are all laughing for a good ten minutes. It was just too good, but no one got it on video or even a picture of her face. We need to do better about that. |
